2016 fusion 1.5 no start after timing belt replacement. Thanks in advance for any advice. We installed a timing belt on a 2016 fusion with the 1.5 turbo. We locked the cams with the special tool (arrow up) and we used a paint marker on the cams and crank. We didn't install the locking crank tool, but didn't see the crank move from the paint marks.
On the 2017 Ford Escape with the L4-1.5L engine the water pump is internal and driven by the timing belt. The labor time guide calls for 8 hours to complete the job. When replacing the water pump, the timing belt will need to be removed. To re-install the belt will require special tools: Timing Belt Locking tool and Crankshaft Locking tool.

Posted September 8, 2010. A timing belt is the same as a cam belt, and according to ford should be changed at 100,000 MILES or 10 years. HAYNES however recommend that the belt should be changed at 70,000 miles because if the belt snaps it will most likely cause catastrophic engine failure.

Sometimes this is misdiagnosed as a ticking from the lifter. On average, the approximate cost of substituting the timing chain would be between $250 and $300, but it will depend on the labor required to remove and repair the parts. The 2014 ford focus has a timing chain, not a timing belt. Ford has chosen to use a timing chain for the 2014 Focus.
Ford Mondeo 1.6 Ti all variants = 160 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 8 years. Ford Mondeo 1.6 EcoBoost 118 kW = 200 000 kilometres or after a maximum of 8 years. Ford Mondeo 2.0 all variants = Timing chain. Check and replace if necessary after 10 years. Ford Mondeo 2.3 118 kW = Timing chain.
I tried to replace the sparkplug and one broke off in the head. I had it towed to a mechanic and he could not get it out with the special tool so he took it to the dealer who had to replace the cylinder head ($3,000). I now see that I should replace the timing belt/water pump preventatively which will probably be around $1,500 to $2,000 I guess.
to clarify ford say the belt is 10 years or 125,000 miles they do not say thats when the tensioner should be replaced and since the tensioner always goes first its a good bet to have it done sooner 80k for diesels 70k petrols the tensioner should be checked for abnormal noise etc on a service few ford dealers do it. The average timing belt (also cambelt) replacement cost for a Ford Fiesta is between Β£450 β Β£900 in the UK. The material costs for a new timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley will only be around Β£150 β Β£300. What makes the timing belt replacement so expensive is the labour cost, as it is a comparatively complex and time-consuming job.

It's strange how different country's operate different schedules on what are essentially the same vehicles.
