Book 1 & 2 have more good quality colored illustrations, (2 has the most) the 3rd has only a few, but every book has like black/white illustrations every 20-30 pages which is still nice. Bookbinding and paperwise they all seem/feel the same. JonnyHarts • 2 yr. ago.
For the first season, it's really up to you though I would say read first. In the long run, reading the books first will be more enjoyable so if you have the patience to read the first book before watching the show, I would definitely encourage it. The first season follows the first book very well so if you wanted to try out the show first

As for Dance with Dragons, who knows, maybe by 2025-2026
Bottom bar on most kindles you have the option of switching from loc/x mins left in chapter/x mins y hours left in book/page number (if supported) with a little x% in the right hand side. iirc the only one that hasn't been updated to do this is the kindle 1 although that may have changed now. 1.
