The cam belt on the 2.7D engine should be replaced at 105k miles. The cost from an independent garage should be circa ÂŁ300, and from a Jaguar Main dealer somewhat more. A Main Dealer in Coventry was advertising a special offer last year for a cam belt change for ÂŁ350. Regards, Peter. Quote.

There was a recent try survey and the two makes that came out on top were Goodyear Eagle XL and Vredestein.
7.4k. S-Type. 2007. : Posted December 24, 2014. Welcome to the Club, Gary. The S type 2.7 diesel is a very good car, and the mileage is below average for the year. The engine was designed in a joint venture between Ford and Peugeot, and went into the XF and the Land Rover as well as the S Type.
If you don't play by the book and give the 2.7 litre Diesel a good run once a month or so you might get a few DPF problems. The 2.7 diesel fitted to the S Type and the early XF as well as the XJ at the same year was only changed to the new 3.0 litre diesel to meet Euro 5 emissions requirement. Regards, Peter. 1.
Overall, this has probably been just about the best car I have ever owned in terms of reliability and value for money. It is an expensive car to run when you compare it to other cars in its class such as what Mercedes and BMW have to offer but this S-Type has never required anything outside of routine maintainance and consumables such as tyres
